Q & A
How would you describe the landscape of public accounting going forward?
Most CPAs are contracting and reducing services- we’re expanding and seeing new opportunities to grow and serve our clients.
Describe a favorite client or client story.
I get excited about watching clients grow especially during challenging times! Key Design Websites has been such an inspiration as they have overcome hurdles, obstacles and everything else this difficult business climate has hurled at them and they have transformed themselves into website champions!
What personal qualities do you bring to public accounting?
As an experienced controller with advanced education, I can see situations play out and I can provide guidance and direction. I encourage clients to tackle tax issues head on and work through cash flow issues, personnel and reporting issues. Mountains were made to be climbed, not surrendered to.
What is the Button-Down Sweater Approach to accounting?
I have been mistaken for Mr. Rodgers before and I decided to take that as a compliment. I approach accounting like Mr. Rodgers approached storytelling. I want my clients to feel comfortable telling me their stories- the good and the bad. Putting the numbers together into a storyline that you can understand is what accounting is all about, whether you wear a button-down sweater or not.
Who are you when you are not balancing numbers?
I enjoy spending time with my three children and my beautiful wife. Making pasta is one of my favorite hobbies. I also enjoy long bike rides, rollerblading, traveling and working on my goldfish pond.

Q & A
Why are you passionate about bookkeeping?
When a business has a handle on the books and where the money is going, the big picture is easier to see. It is all in the details and how well those details are communicated. My personal experience as an entrepreneur gives me additional insight when I am helping a client with questions ranging from cash flow to payroll.

Describe a favorite client or client story.
Although payroll, monthly reports and reconciliation can present complex issues at times, I enjoy working with our clients and keeping their financial information current and up to date. It is exciting to see their growth and help to develop the dreams of our clients into reality.
Who are you when you are not bookkeeping?
When I am not behind my computer playing with numbers, I volunteer my time at Church and to my family. I love spending time with my husband and children creating new foods in the kitchen or playing in the great outdoors. I enjoy all aspects of the outdoors and participate in many different activities during all seasons. Some of my favorites include backpacking, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, hot springing, gardening or just sitting back enjoying the serenity of the outdoors.

Q & A
What core values drive your ability to serve others?
The golden rule of serving others as I would be served underlies all I do. I expect my CPA to treat me in professional manner and keep my personal information easy to retrieve and confidential. I do the same for our clients.
What do you enjoy most about the JTC culture?
In a small business setting, I enjoy seeing the personal attention that each client receives. While accounting is a numbers business, clients are not numbers. The numbers they bring to the office tell a personal story.
Describe a favorite client or client story.
I have enjoyed meeting the clients that come to the office receiving cards during the holidays. When I have to make special deliveries, they are always grateful for that personal touch. Building those relationships are so important to building trust.
What is it like to be married to an accountant?
Life is never boring. I don’t think Jack is a typical accountant because he is fun. At the same time, he takes his business very seriously and works diligently to satisfy his clients.
Who are you when you are not managing an office?
I enjoy spending time with our three children and my wonderful husband as we travel, take bike rides, go hiking and collect recipes to share. Music is a close second in my life next to my family and I teach locally in my music studio. On the side, I compose and perform. I also enjoy designing flowers, volunteering in the community and I am involved at church as well.
